Origin
I lived in Yugawara from 2020 until late 2023, after moving from Tokyo at the start of the pandemic. I worked on local farms, joined the Rotary Club, started businesses there and got to know the restaurants, bars and people. The town deserved a better guide in English than it had.
Build
Yugawara Club covers ryokan and hotels, day-use baths, restaurants, walks, events and transport, from the station to Oku-Yugawara, in English and Japanese. It puts the practical facts first: travel time between areas, when baths stop admitting visitors, reservation and payment requirements, with links to official or first-party sources where details change.
Now
Every page is researched, photographed and written by one person, with no ads. Readers support the guide through Ko-fi, which also carries a free monthly round-up of what is on. It is an independent editorial project, not an official site of Yugawara Town or its tourism association.
