Its job in the stack

I use Astro when a site needs custom design, strong performance and a codebase that remains understandable without shipping a large client application. It is especially good for editorial, service and documentation sites.

Astro pairs well with Markdown, local data or a structured CMS such as Sanity. The stack stays as simple as the publishing workflow permits.

Limits

What it does not solve

A custom codebase requires development and deployment ownership. A small team that wants a visual all-in-one editor may prefer Squarespace or WordPress.
