Why I use it
Its job in the stack
I use Mistral when a job benefits from a capable alternative model family or from models that can be deployed with more control. It broadens the available reasoning styles without forcing every task through the same provider.
The useful comparison is the work produced, not a leaderboard. Mistral stays when it improves quality, cost, latency, deployment control or resilience for a specific job.
Where it earns its place

Limits
What it does not solve
Model capabilities and hosting terms change quickly. A selected model must be tested on the actual task and data boundary.
