I use HandBrake when a master file needs to become a practical web, archive or device copy. It provides clear control over codecs, dimensions, subtitles and compression without requiring a full editing timeline.
The useful skill is choosing an output for its destination. A small review file, a web embed and an archival master should not share one careless preset.

Limits
What it does not solve
Aggressive compression permanently removes information. Original masters and settings must be preserved when future reuse matters.
